This gallery to the left shows a large detached house that had been stripped of all its ceilings and plastered walls prior to a refurbishment. What is it all about
Drylining refers to the practice of fitting new plasterboard to the ceiling and/or walls of a room and can be fitted in a number of ways, either by screwing into the ceiling /timbers or walls directly (tacking) or by a process on the walls called “Dot and Dab” where the boards are literally stuck to the surface using a plasterboard adhesive.
When a wall is dry lined, typically this uses a type of plasterboard known as tapered edged. When the boards are lined up, there is a “dip” in the middle, which allows you to then “tape and joint” the boards together using a jointing compound and a special tape. Once this has been completed and rubbed down this leaves a perfectly flat smooth area that can be decorated right over without the need for plastering.
